Attendees work in trios: two people play nodes a and b, and the third plays the hypervisor, hv, as 302's facilitation addendum set up for its Exercise 3. In a pair, one person plays hv as well as their own node, from a third terminal.
Intent 3.2.3 or later, git, and a scratch directory you can delete afterwards. Every exercise runs in one throwaway project, never in a real one.
A shell. The examples use zsh, the shell the course's evidence comes from.
One scratch project for the whole practical, made once: mkdir fleet && cd fleet && git init -q && git commit -q --allow-empty -m init && intent init fleet, then intent wb register hv --name "Hypervisor" --role hypervisor, intent wb register a --name "Node A" --role control and intent wb register b --name "Node B" --role validation.
