Agentic development produces a variable multiplier across task types, not a uniform speedup. Mechanical tasks (audits, refactoring, boilerplate generation) show dramatic acceleration. Creative tasks (architecture design, scope definition, dependency analysis) show modest or no improvement. Scope-sensitive tasks can show negative productivity when the agent optimizes locally without global awareness. "Different distribution of effort" is a more accurate description than "10x developer."
