ACI-018: The Ten Percent Problem
Thesis
Most developers use AI coding tools at roughly 10% of their capability -- the autocomplete level. They accept ghost text suggestions and occasionally ask the chat a question. They never delegate multi-step tasks, never build context artifacts, and never establish verification workflows. The gap between what the tools can do and how practitioners actually use them is where most of the value is left on the table.
Story
GitHub Copilot has the largest installed base of any AI coding tool. Its core interaction is ghost text: gray suggestions that appear as you type. Press Tab to accept. This works. Developers report modest productivity gains -- 10-20% faster for routine coding tasks.
